NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police began searching for a suspect overnight after a gas station robbery in Nashville.

The incident happened before 4 a.m. Tuesday at a Mapco on Murfreesboro Pike.

Metro Nashville police say the suspect came up behind the clerk, pushed him to the register and then took off with cash.

The clerk was not injured.

Police released surveillance photos in hopes of identifying the suspect.

Mapco released the following statement:

“Last night, our store at 2301 Murfreesboro Road was the target of a robbery. The team members who were onsite are safe and unharmed, and we are working with law enforcement to identify the perpetrator. Safety of our team members and guests in our stores is our priority and we have strong protocols in place to ensure this. This includes keeping minimal amounts of cash on hand at all locations, making crimes such as this particularly senseless. We appreciate the quick response and support of our local Police Department and will continue to work closely with them.”
