Police were called to an Antioch convenience store after a store clerk was pistol-whipped by a shoplifter.
The incident was reported before 8:30 a.m. Thursday at an Exxon station on Crossing Place, near Hickory Hollow Parkway.
Metro Nashville Police officers on scene said the clerk was struck when he or she saw the suspect steal a hat. The worker was not seriously hurt and will be OK.
The incident was apparently captured on surveillance video. Police have not yet released a description of the suspect.
No one else was inside at the time.
