The Country Music Association Foundation donated $1 million donation to Metro Nashville Public Schools.

Grammy nominee, Kelsea Ballerini announced the donation Tuesday morning while visiting students at Oliver Middle School.

The school's Wind Ensemble got to show off their skills to the star.

Ballerini awarded the district and its "Music Makes Us" program with a big $1 million check on behalf of the CMA.

"Music Makes Us" provides high-quality music education to students here in Metro Nashville... while also encouraging others around the country to do the same.

Ballerini said her school's music education program was where her passion for music began.

"Music education is so important having people and teachers and a community around you um that teaches you to be passionate about something and to work for it and to learn about it is really important," said Ballerini.

Over the last 10 years, the CMA has donated $11 million to music education in Nashville.
