A mid-state community has lost a star high school football player who family and friends said had so much promise.
Tullahoma High School senior, Eli Grow, was killed in a crash in Bedford County over the weekend, when troopers said he crossed over the center line and hit an oncoming pickup head on.
The two people in the truck he hit were also injured. Monday, a memorial for Grow remained at the crash site.
Grow had recently signed a scholarship to play football for Mississippi College, and his coach said he was on his way from a personal training session when the accident happened.
Grow’s teammates and coach remembered him as someone who was always dedicated and a hard worker.
“I have good moments and I have tough moments where it’s hard. Memory flashes in front of your mind and you just ask, ‘Why? Why?’,” said John Olive, Grow’s football coach.
Troopers said drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash.
