NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Folks in the Shelby Park neighborhood braved a winter weather whiplash to have some fun on Sunday.

As temperatures plunged, Dio and his owner Ken Bryant went on a walk.

Bryant said, "Nobody's out here."

Dio was perhaps the happiest of them all, he's an Alaskan Malamute. Bryant bundled up for the 3 mile walk with his sled dog.

Bryant said, "I do layers, I have several pairs of gloves I like to wear."

As they perused the streets near Shelby Park, a disc golf tournament was in full swing down the street.

Austin Heath said, "It's cold, definitely cold, and at least it's not wet like it was yesterday though."

Mushy ground was an obstacle for players in the Shelby Shootout tournament. As they played 18 holes, the Alaskan dog continued to play outside.

Bryant said, "Well it's a little bit chilly for me but it's perfect for him. I bundle up, several layers, and keep up with the dog, that's all I do."

As temperatures remain low Sunday night, salt crews with the Tennessee Department of Transportation will be on call to treat icy spots that might arise.
