COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WTVF) — A caregiver was arrested and charged for allegedly assaulting a vulnerable adult in Maury County.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began investigating Melissa Thiele in November of 2018 after receiving a tip from Adult Protective Services about a complaint they received.
At the time, Thiele was a caregiver for the company, working with a client in Columbia who has an intellectual disability, and her duties included providing daily living assistance.
TBI officials say Thiele physically assaulted the patient earlier that month. She is is no longer an employee of that caregiver service.
The Maury County Grand Jury returned an indictment on Feb. 12, charging Thiele with one count of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a vulnerable adult. She was arrested by deputies on Thursday and booked at the Maury County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
