A church received a flood of donations for its growing summer outreach program after a story about it aired on NewsChannel 5.
Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church pastor Marcus Campbell started a summer program seven years ago to help keep children out of trouble.
When we first aired the story, Campbell asked for food or monetary donations for this summer's program. As members of the community saw that need, they filled it - tenfold.
"Everybody from Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Lebanon, Nashville you name it -- has been coming and donating for these kids for the summer, making sure they won't be hungry, making sure that they can have fun, and you can see today these kids are really happy," said Campbell.
He said one company even bought grills for the program so he can cook food for the campers. If you're interested in making a donation to the program, just head to our website to find out how.
