The Bellevue community will come together Thursday night in hopes of getting more answers from police about a recent homicide that's shaken the community.
Erik Helffenstein, age 45, was shot and killed early Monday morning on Highway 100. Metro Nashville police said he was chasing suspected car burglars from the Traceside subdivision in which he lived.
The suspects fired shots into Helffenstein's vehicle and he died.
The two suspects still have not been caught.
Thursday night, Metro Councilwoman Sheri Weiner is hosting a community meeting about the case. It's slated to begin at 7 p.m. at the Bellevue YMCA.
"This is tragic and senseless and heartbreaking for him, his wife and children, friends, neighbors and our community at large," Weiner said in a press release.
Weiner said Metro Police will be on hand to answer questions about the case and about safety.
