U.S. Senator Bob Corker visited with community members in Ashland City during a Cheatham County Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
Those neighbors and business leaders who attended the lunch had the chance to mingle with and ask the Senator questions one-on-one.
"There are people that are deranged and wish us harm and in a free society like we have it's so easy for them to be able to do so and we've just gotta up our vigilance capabilities and do everything we can to protect our citizens," he said.
Corker also took time to congratulate Indiana Governor Mike Pence on becoming Presedential Candidate, Donald Trump's, running mate.
As for whether he had second thoughts on the candidacy, the Senator said he's always seen himself as more of a policy person.
He did mention maybe there will be other opportunities, but as for now, being chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee is a privilege.
Friday's meet and greet was held at the Sunrise Cafe on Main Street.
