Senator Bob Corker has hit back against President Donald Trump after a series of tweets from the president attacked the Tennessee Republican.
It was a back-and-forth bashing on social media between a Republican president and a senator from his own party.
President Trump tweeted that he expected Corker to be an obstacle to the White House’s agenda and charged that Corker "didn't have the guts to run" for re-election in 2018.
He also accused Corker of being "largely responsible for the ‘horrendous’ nuclear deal with Iran;” however, reports stated it was the Obama administration that negotiated that agreement.
In his tweets, the president also said Corker “begged” him for an endorsement for re-election in Tennessee, but that he said no, leading to Corker dropping out.

...Hence, I would fully expect Corker to be a negative voice and stand in the way of our great agenda. Didn't have the guts to run!

Corker tweeted: "It's a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning."

Senator Corker said the information in the president’s tweets was not true. A source familiar with Corker and the situation told NewsChannel 5 the following:
“All claims made in the president’s tweets are false. The president called the senator early last week and asked him to reconsider his decision not to seek reelection and reaffirmed that he would have endorsed him, as he has said many times.”
