Crash Closes I-24 East At Davidson, Rutherford Co. Line

A multiple-vehicle crash closed all eastbound lanes of I-24 in Nashville near the Rutherford, Davidson County line.

According to officials, it happened just after 8 p.m. near mile marker 63 when a corvette passed another vehicle and hit the concrete median.

The corvette then hit another car before hitting the median again.

The driver of the Corvette was extricated by the Nashville Fire Department and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He suffered life threatening injuries. 

No other drivers were seriously injured.

All lanes of I-24E were shut down and traffic was routed around on the right shoulder. 

It was expected to stay closed until 1 a.m. as officers and Traffic Crash Unit officials investigates.
