Three people, including a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper and a Coffee County deputy, were taken to an area hospital after a crash involving a semi on Interstate 24.

The incident was reported around 5:45 a.m. Saturday between mile marker 112 and 114, not far from Manchester.

THP officials said a trooper was inside his patrol car when a semi struck it. That semi also hit a Coffee County patrol vehicle.

According to authorities, the trooper, deputy and the co-driver of the semi were taken to area hospitals. Police later confirmed that minor injuries were involved.

Eastbound lanes were closed for hours. The left lane of westbound I-24 was also blocked.
