NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The westbound lanes of Interstate 40 were shut down Wednesday as crews responded to the scene of a crash involving four vehicles in Nashville.
It involved three semis and one passenger vehicle was reported at 4:41 Wednesday evening at Exit 209A for Church Street and under the Demonbruen Street bridge.
The passenger vehicle was smashed between two semi trucks, pinning the driver inside the vehicle.
Once firefighters were able to get the driver out of the vehicle, he was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with what was described as critical injuries. Officers followed the medics to the hospital and spoke with the doctor, who said the man's injuries were not life-threatening and predicted that he will survive.
The road reopened around 8 p.m.
