One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash on Interstate 65 in Spring Hill.

The crash was reported just after 4:15 p.m. Monday, at mile marker 54 near Highway 396 and closed both North and South lanes of the interstate.

According to an official with the Spring Hill Police Department, a tractor trailer and jeep were fully engulfed in flames.

The semi came to rest on top of the jeep in the wood line along side the interstate.

Two other vehicles came to rest in the southbound lanes of the interstate. They were destroyed and seemed to have experienced some kind of head-on crash.

One victim in the crash was airlifted to an area hospital and others were taken by ambulance.

One lane of the northbound lanes was used for northbound traffic and the other was being used for southbound traffic.

After several hours, southbound lanes finally reopened shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday.
