Cars In Gym Parking Lots Targeted By Burglars

Same Suspects Believed To Be Responsible

Hendersonville police said they believe the same suspects are responsible for several gym break-ins and credit card fraud.

"People go into the gym, they're not really thinking about who's going to break into their car, they're more focused on how much am I going to be lifting today?" John Solomon said.

Solomon said he's surprised that criminals would case the Gold's Gym in Hendersonville.

"I'd rather not have people watching me," Solomon said.

Gold's Gym employees said they will escort out people who don't feel safe.

Ray Chazravorty said this is the first problem they've had in two or three years.

"We have a high volume of police officers that are members at the gym just so everyone makes sure they feel safe inside and outside," Chazravorty said.

Police said the suspects started their crime spree Monday night at Planet Fitness on Gallatin Pike South around 7:30 or 8 p.m.

A woman had her car window bashed in and cash, a credit card, and an I-pad taken.

Straight from there, the suspects drove in a black four-door sedan to the Gold's Gym in Hendersonville and did the same thing.

Chazravorty said once you have time to call your credit card company, it's probably too late.

"If you're here at the facility, lock your doors, bring anything that you want to keep with you inside. We've got lockers inside, and we've got security cameras outside to make sure we can check on everything," Chazravorty said.

David Harrell with the Hendersonville Police Department said the suspects used the credit cards to buy gas. They did not hide their faces, and all locations had surveillance cameras.
