Cyclist hit, killed by vehicle in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man riding a bicycle died after being hit by a vehicle on South Church Street in Murfreesboro Wednesday.

Murfreesboro Police officials say 71-year-old Herbert Knee was on his bike traveling north in the right lane when he was hit by a 20-year-old driving a 2011 Nissan Altima when she tried to make a right turn onto South Church Street from Runnymeade Drive.

Police say Knee was tossed several feet from his bike. First responders treated him at the scene until he could be flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He has pronounced shortly after.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and no charges were filed. The crash is under investigation by the Fatal Accident Crash Team.
