MONTEREY, Tenn. (WTVF) — An earth dam break in the Monterey area caused a Flash Flood Warning for Putnam and White County. The warning expired overnight.

The National Weather Service said 20 feet of water has already drained out of the 17-acre private lake into the Calfkiller River. The lake is located near Perdue Farms, which is across Interstate 40 from the Perdue chicken plant.

Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter said the breached area of the river had not expanded, but emergency management officials will continue monitoring the situation. Runoff downstream was the primary concern.

The Putnam County Emergency Management Agency said no injuries were reported but some roads were damaged. Crews will survey the area Saturday morning.
