NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A date and time for the 2020 TransPerfect Music City Bowl have been announced by ESPN and bowl representatives. The post-season college football game is set to close out the year this December.
Scheduled for December 30 at 2:30 p.m., the game will feature a matchup between teams from the Big Ten and Southeastern conferences. It will air live from Nissan Stadium.
The matchup is scheduled to be announced December 20.
"In a year full of uncertainty, we're thankful to see Nashville's holiday tradition remain in the same timeframe that it's been since its inception," Scott Ramsey, president and CEO of the Music City Bowl, said.
Ramsey said some aspects of the game will look different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of the pre-game festivities including the Fan Zone on Broadway, battle of the bands and tailgate parties won't happen. He said visiting teams may also keep their stay in Music City short.
It is unknown how many fans will be allowed inside Nissan Stadium for the game. Ramsey said bowl officials would be in contact with Metro leaders over the next few weeks to determine how many tickets can be sold safely.
Starting this year, the Music City Bowl is now sponsored by TransPerfect, a translation services and technologies company. The game's official name is the TransPerfect Music City Bowl.
Phil Shawe, president and CEO of TransPerfect, said safety is their top priority for the Music City Bowl.
The 2020 bowl game will be the 23rd held in Music City. Since its inception, the Bowl has produced more than $350 million in direct economic impact to Nashville.
