NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Department of Children's Services has stopped giving youth in custody home passes after a teen recently tried to carjack someone while on release.
David Mays was released on a weekend home pass early this year, despite his violent background, and never returned.
Mays allegedly shot a rideshare driver during an attempted carjacking in downtown Nashville.
In response, DCS has suspended all home passes while reviewing their policies. Prosecutors plan to charge the 16-year-old as an adult.
