NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Karl Dean took a final lap Monday evening as the Mayor of Nashville by completing one of his biggest initiatives.
Last evening’s community walk was the last one for Dean's Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor challenge.
Dean has spent a large amount of his time in office encouraging Nashvillians to get healthy and stay active -- in a city and state with a high obesity rate.
“The important message is that we want people to be more active, to be more concerned about their health, and all of us can stand to get more exercise,” Dean said. “I just encourage everybody to enjoy this beautiful city. It’s been great being mayor and this has been a big part of my enjoyment has been doing this campaign, the walking campaign.”
The evening's event was held at Nashville's American Baptist College.
