The sheriff of Benton County said an unidentified man's body found in a river has prompted a homicide investigation.
Benton County Sheriff Kenny Christopher told The Jackson Sun the body was pulled from the Tennessee River near the Benton County and Humphreys County line Thursday afternoon.
The man has been identified as 40-year-old Scott Ray Damon, of Wilson County.
Reports stated Damon was reported missing from Wilson County on October 21. Foul play has been suspected in the case.
Christopher said fishermen discovered Damon's body on a trotline.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has joined the investigation. Damon's body was sent to the medical examiner's office in Nashville for an autopsy.
