NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Department of Health reported 14,395 new COVID-19 cases and 12 additional deaths from the last 48 hours. The state released data from the past two days on Saturday, due to the Christmas holiday.
The December 25 update showed 9,230 additional cases and 5 deaths.
The December 26 update showed 5,165 additional cases and 7 deaths.
The Department shared that the limited number of deaths reported is due to the holiday.
This brings the state's total case count to 560,892. So far 6,443 Tennesseans have lost their lives to the virus.
The state also reported 14,006 recoveries in the past 48 hours.
There are currently 2,819 patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Earlier today The Metro Public Health Department reported an additional 793 cases of COVID-19 in Nashville in the past 24 hours.
Today's COVID-19 update is abbreviated, featuring only the number of new cases and new deaths. Metro will release a similarly abbreviated update tomorrow, before returning to full reports Monday.
No new deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.
