Former TSU Officer Fatally Shot In Robertson County

An investigation got underway after a former Tennessee State University police officer was shot to death at a Robertson County gas station.  

The shooting happened Tuesday night at the Phillips 66 Sudden Service on Maxey Road in Cedar Hill at exit 19 on Interstate 24.

Officials said 42-year-old Jonathan Outlaw, of Clarksville, died due to apparent gunshot wounds.

Tennessee State University Police told NewsChannel 5 Outlaw is a former TSU police officer, who resigned from the department.

Outlaw was also a former Clarksville police officer.

According to Outlaw's long time friend, Jimmy Terry, Outlaw was attempting to sell his 2015 Chevrolet Camero, when he was shot and killed.

"Super nice, give you the shirt bight off his back. Johnathan would do anything for you. Had a great personality," said Terry.

The Tennessee Burearu of Investigation added the suspect, Ricardo Murray Jr. to their Top 10 Most Wanted list.

TBI officials offered a $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of Murray Jr., saying he's wanted on homicide, theft, and robbery charges.
