Deputy Facing Criminal Charges Resigns, Turns Himself In

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Davidson County Sheriff's deputy has been placed behind bars.

Alan Shonting resigned from the department and turned himself in Monday. He’s facing criminal charges for allegedly assaulting a man at a car dealership.

He has been accused of assaulting his step-daughter's ex-boyfriend at his job at a local car dealership last month and violating a protective order.

Shonting had worked for the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office for 15 years.
