NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Nashville Police officers arrested three ex-convicts in a 2017 murder, thanks to DNA analysis.

44-year-old Kurtis Word, 41-year-old Kevin Hoggett and 45-year-old Larry Beddingfield were arrested and indicted in the July 2017 death of 39-year-old Marall Edwards.

Officers found Edwards with a deadly gunshot wound to the chest lying in the doorway of his apartment.

Items collected during processing of the scene were sent to the MNPD Crime Laboratory. Officials say scientific advancements in DNA analysis and comparison gave detectives vital information to move toward an indictment and arrests.

The three suspects were indicted on multiple criminal counts including first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary. They were jailed on a $500,000 bond each.
