In an attempt to keep embattled Sheriff Robert Arnold behind bars, prosecuting attorneys filed court documents showing he's lied to his wife from jail.

The prosecution claimed Arnold has continued to manipulate his wife in phone calls from jail, saying quote, "I have a hit out for me now."

He went on to say gang members in jail are hoping to quote "get a tear drop by, you know, shoving a shank into my neck."

The documents stated he later admitted to a colleague at the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office that there was no hit out on him and he was just trying to get his wife to work to get him released.

Arnold, his uncle and an accounting chief at the sheriff's office face a 13 count federal indictment for illegally profiting from the sale of jail-cigs to inmates.

Arnold remained behind bars in Grayson County, Kentucky.
