Several Vol fans voiced their displeasure of Doeren's candidacy, citing his record in the ACC.
Tennessee Athletic Director John Currie and his staff were said to be turning their attention toward former Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin. Several reports said the Vols were planning to meet with Sumlin on Thursday. Sumlin went 51-26 in six years with the Aggies.
