NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Lawmakers of all political beliefs are in Music City for the annual National Conference of State Legislatures.

Special keynote speaker, Dolly Parton, took the stage to talk literacy advocacy.

Her Imagination Library program has donated millions of books around the world for the last 25 years.

As you may know, she started the program because her father lived his whole life unable to read or write and she wanted to change that.

Other keynote speakers include Mississippi governor Phil Bryant, Pulitzer Prize-winning presidential biographer Jon Meacham, and CNN political contributor Van Jones, a former advisor to President Barack Obama.
