A domestic situation prompted a security alert near Belmont University, Tuesday.
The incident began as an argument between a man and woman in a car. At some point, the vehicle crashed near Ashwood and Belmont.
The man got out of the car and fled. Residents in the area reported seeing a man with a gun.
A campus security alert was sent to Belmont students, saying police were searching for a suspect nearby.
“There is no known threat to the campus community,” the alert said.
The university later issued an update, saying the person had been apprehended. No additional details were known.
