NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The National Museum of African American Music is taking shape in a prime spot in Nashville.
It's will be housed in the massive Fifth and Broadway development in downtown Nashville.
On Tuesday, two big checks to help with that project came from the Regions Foundation and Mike Curb Foundation.
The money will go to creating the entrances - one on Broadway and one on Fifth Avenue.
Once the shell of the building is finished, they'll take over the space in the summer and begin installing all the exhibits, galleries and displays.
The museum is scheduled to open in December of 2019.
