NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — It seems like the robocalls are just getting worse by the day, but one phone scam is very real and very dangerous.

In this scam, the caller spoofs your bank's phone number, so when the phone rings, it's a number you recognize.

In one report, the caller asked the victim if she was visiting Florida because her bank's security department received notification of someone trying to use her debit card there. The caller told her she needed to shut down and freeze her accounts.

In a panic and worried about someone draining her account, the victim confirmed her identity and login information.

The caller immediately hung up.

She quickly called her bank who said there was no record of a phone call from them and someone already drew $500 from her account and was trying to draw more.

Experts say if you get a call like this, hang up and call your bank yourself without giving your information.

Don't use the number that just called you and look up the number for the customer service department yourself to confirm the call is legit.
