NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Reese Witherspoon's store, Draper James, and VSP Global partnered to cover the cost of eye exams for dozens of girls at Girls Inc. in Nashville.

Experts say the importance of getting an annual eye exam for children cannot be over-stated. Children who have trouble seeing in class or keeping their place while reading can easily slip behind in school.

That's why the two companies partnered after Draper James' launched its eyewear line. They're working to connect thousands of young women in Nashville to local VSP network doctors for no-cost eye exams and glasses.

On Tuesday, almost 60 girls got an eye exam for free. And to try to make them feel better about the process, the doctor told the girls about when she started wearing glasses in the first grade.
