Posted

A man has been charged with Aggravated Assault after pointing a gun at another driver during a road rage incident in Franklin.

Officials with the Franklin Police Department said it happened Wednesday afternoon at Mack Hatcher and Liberty Pike.

The victim said another driver used obscene language and hand gestures toward the victim before passing him while pointing a pistol at him.

The victim gave police the other driver’s license plate number which led officers to 39-year-old Matthew Wood’s home.

There, officers found the loaded handgun Wood used in the center console of his vehicle.

Wood was charged with Aggravated Assault and released after posting a $10,000 bond. He is due in court Dec. 10. If convicted, Wood faces up to six years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Officials said the best way to protect yourself and your family during a road rage incident is to lock your doors and drive away from the danger while calling 911.
