CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A crossing guard stationed at Northeast High School wound up in the hospital Friday after she was hit by a truck.
The crossing guard told police she had traffic stopped in both directions of Trenton Road and Marla Drive in Clarksville allowing traffic from Northeast High to leave the school parking lot.
The guard said the driver of the truck was on Marla Drive and made a left turn onto Trenton Road, that's when the guard was hit in the arm with the truck's mirror.
The driver told police she didn't see the crossing guard because her view was blocked by her own truck.
Clarksville Police say the guard was wearing her reflective safety vest and holding a stop sign.
Police cited the driver for failure to use reasonable care.
The crossing guard was able to take herself to the hospital. Police say she appeared to have minor injuries to her arm.
