NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Metro driver says she was driving on Interstate 40 near downtown when something came crashing down onto her car.
Erin McDermott was on her morning commute from Old Hickory to Brentwood. She said when she drove under Broadway, something fell from the bridge onto her hood before breaking apart and cracking her windshield.
"I immediately screamed," McDermott said. "It was pretty loud and it was pretty shocking."
The incident left several scratches on her hood and several cracks on the windshield of her 2015 Honda CR-V.
McDermott said when she looked in her mirrors, she saw somebody standing on the overpass.
"I immediately thought to the person that had been recently killed back in November," she said.
That person was Joe Shelton Jr. Shelton, who died after a concrete chunk smashed into his car while he drove on Interstate 24 near Shelby Avenue. Police still don't have any arrests or leads in that case.
