Driver Dies In Hospital After Serious La Vergne Crash

A woman critically injured in a La Vergne crash has died from her injuries.

According to police reports, 36-year-old Tela Williams died Monday afternoon. The crash happened Saturday night on Stonges River Road at Lake Forest Drive.

Williams was in a Ford Fusion traveling south on Stones River Rd. when she crossed over the double yellow line hitting another vehicle.

Somer Williams,30, was driving the other vehicle, which was a Chevroley Silverado with 7-year-old Leighla Keith.

Both were injured in the crash, but expected to be ok.

Tela was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she later died. According to police, Tela was not wearing a seatbelt and had been drinking alcohol at the time of the crash.

No charges were expected to be filed in the case.
