The victim fatally struck overnight by a hit-and-run driver in South Nashville has been identified.
Officers with Metro Nashville Police said 58-year-old Martin Ray Jackson was crossing Murfreesboro Pike at 11:30 p.m. Monday when he was hit by a vehicle.
Police said Jackson was not in a crosswalk. He died at the scene.
A description of the suspect's vehicle is limited at this time. It's unclear if the incident was captured on surveillance video.
According to investigators, Jackson was homeless and lived nearby. Witnesses said he had been drinking prior to the collision.
