NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A search got underway overnight after a driver hit a pole in a South Nashville neighborhood and fled the scene.
The incident happened early Wednesday morning on Cherrywood Drive, located just west of Nolensville Pike and Old Hickory Boulevard.

Metro Nashville Police officials said the driver of an Oldsmobile ran off the road, flipped and hit a pole – downing lines in the area.
At the peak of the outage, some 280 people were without power. Crews worked throughout the morning to restore electricity.
The pole was split into several pieces.
At least one person fled from the scene. However, a witness reported seeing multiple people run from the car.
