NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police say one person was killed after a car crashed into the back of a tractor trailer on Interstate 24.
The incident happened shortly before 4 a.m. in eastbound lanes near Haywood Lane. Metro police say the driver crashed into the back of the truck, causing the semi to drag the car for about 1/4 mile.
Several officers on scene on standby. That typically means they’re waiting to hear from the hospital on how the patient is doing. Clear time still says 5 a.m., but I’m pretty confident that won’t happen. pic.twitter.com/nBeLjY6MQO

Metro police identified the person killed as 27-year-old Jeremias Navarrete, of Bell Road. They said he was driving his 2017 Honda Accord eastbound when he crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt. Police believe alcohol was involved in the crash and will be conducting a toxicology test to determine if Navarrete was under the influence when he crashed.
The crash caused traffic delays throughout the morning but has since cleared.
