NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Officials have released the identity of the truck driver killed in a crash on Briley Parkway. The driver was identified as 58-year-old Eddy Glenn.
Northbound lanes of Briley Parkway at County Hospital Road were closed for several hours after the crash.
The incident happened just before midnight Monday at exit 26. It was not known if wet road conditions were a factor in the wreck.
Officers on the scene said Glenn, from Olmstead, Kentucky, was killed when he lost control of the tractor trailer he was driving in a curve near County Hospital Road. The truck struck a guardrail and overturned.
Glenn died at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.
The semi was from YRC Freight, which is located on Centennial Boulevard, close to where the crash happened. Glenn had just picked up a load of packages for delivery to St. Louis.
The truck was hauling two trailers, one of which had been split in half as a result of the crash. Crews were working to clear the road of debris and remove the wrecked truck.
The semi cab sustained significant damage. It took emergency workers around 45 minutes to free Glenn's body from the wreckage.
Traffic was being diverted around the crash, which had a major impact on drivers throughout the morning commute.
Northbound lanes of Briley Parkway were closed for over 12 hours.
No other vehicles were involved.
