A White Bluff man was killed in a single-vehicle crash that closed Interstate 65 North for a couple hours.

It happened Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. on I-65N at I-440 at Armory Drive.

According to Metro Nashville Police officials, 58-year-old Patrick Bateman died in the crash.

Police said Bateman was driving his 2002 Ford Explorer northbound on I-65 North just past the I-440 entrance ramp when, for reasons unknown, he lost control of the SUV, overcorrected, and struck the guardrail.

Bateman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died.

There was no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement at the scene, but toxicology testing will be conducted.
