NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Nashville police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in Hermitage.
The crash was reported around 9:30 p.m. Monday on Central Pike underneath the Interstate 40 entrance ramp.
According to investigators at the scene, a passerby saw a woman's body lying in the middle of the road and called police. The female victim was killed, police said she was an apparent victim of a hit-and-run driver.
It is not known if the woman was attempting to cross the roadway or was walking in the roadway when she was first hit. Officers found a purse nearby but there was not any identifying information inside.
Central Pike was shut down for several hours for the investigation.
Investigators tell NewsChannel 5 they have very little information on the suspect vehicle, but say it could possibly be a GMC.
