The days of having to walk into a liquor store could be over after the launch of "Drizly" in Nashville, a on-demand alcohol delivery service.

"Drizly is an app and a website that allow you as a customer to get beer, wine, and spirits delivered within the hour," Justin Robinson, co-founder of Drizly, explained. "We've partnered with five stores in the Nashville area to be able to bring you their wide selection within the hour."

The new company launched it's delivery service in Nashville on Thursday, making Nashville the 23rd city in North America that has Drizly.

Nashvillians were encouraged to download the Drizly app on their smartphone, or visit its website to make their order. Products and inventory on the Drizly app are the same as they would be in the store, which means there are no price mark-ups.

"The prices you're seeing on Drizly are the exact same prices as in the store," Robinson explained. "No markups, just a $5 delivery fee, that's all you have to pay additional."

Drizly has teamed with Grace's Win and Spirits, Midtown Wine and Spirits, Red Dog Wine & Spirits, Red Spirits and Wine, and The Bottle Shop at McEwan and will offer delivery to more than 20 Nashville neighborhoods, including 12 South, Downtown, East Nashville, Germantown, Green Hills, Midtown, Music row, Sylvan Park, as well as Franklin.

Robinson said this is a win-win for the customer, for Drizly, and for the liquor stores providing the service. "We're bringing them a stream of revenue that they didn't have previously," Robinson explained. "Their online sales have not been a big part of their business so far, but we're able to bring them an ecommerce solution that really brings them into the 21st century in a big way."

Customers can schedule a delivery, giving window of time that the order can be delivered, or can ask that it be delivered an hour within the order being completed, if it is within business hours.

Employees from each liquor store will deliver the order, and upon arrival, they will confirm the customer is 21 or older using proprietary identification software, and they will have the person sign for the delivery.

Drizly also gives customers the option to purchase alcohol as a gift, but the person receiving the alcohol must be of a legal drinking age.

For first-time customers in the Nashville and Franklin area, Drizly offered free delivery for all first-time orders, as long as the order is $30 or more. The promotional code is "CHEERSTN".
