After crashing his vehicle, an alleged drunk driver reportedly assaulted first responders.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. on May 30 in Franklin. Authorities said they arrived at the scene and found the driver, 32-year-old Billy Clark, trapped inside his vehicle in a ditch at Culberson Boulevard and Shawnee Drive.

Officials said Clark was hostile with officers and paramedics.

He reportedly yelled racial slurs and punched a paramedic in the head. He also tried to punch a police officer, and authorities said he spit on first responders’ necks and faces.

Clark was charged with DUI and three counts of assault. He was being held on a $6,500 bond with an appearance in court scheduled for Thursday, June 14.
