NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The weather is heating-up and so is the development around Dickerson Pike. Now on the east side of Nashville, on what used to be the old Dixie Highway, sits a local dive.
"We have 23 uniquely designed suites," said Lyon Porter, Owner & Designer of The Dive Motel & Swim Club, "Our favorite bars are dive bars."
Porter also owns Urban Cowboy, a bed-and-breakfast also on the east side of town. The 21-and-up venue is an answer to the rising interest in both boutique hotels and the rising heat.
"It was a response to the weather," he said, "There's nowhere to swim especially on the east side. To have a drink, lounge by the pool. So we really wanted to create that element," he said.
The property is meant for visitors and locals alike.
"So we're doing day passes for people who are visiting from out of town. We're doing annual memberships for locals that want to come a lot more than that," Porter said.
Guests can change in the locker rooms, lounge by the pool, then retreat to rooms that feature vintage details, soaking tubs, and of course a party switch!
Porter says the theme is a mash-up of all the best from the 60-70s-and beyond. He hopes people enjoy the whimsy -- and the pool party.
The pool area also features a hot tub and since it's Music City, there will be outdoor concerts by the pool.
