An East Tennessee man has been killed in an officer-involved shooting near Knoxville.

Officers with the Clinton Police Department found 32-year-old Roger Raymond York at his home and tried to take him into custody – at which point the shooting happened.

TBI agents said they’re now investigating what happened at the home on East Drive Wednesday night in Clinton, located about 30 minutes northwest of Knoxville.

Preliminary information indicated that three officers with Clinton police tried to arrest York on warrants.

That's when he allegedly tried to evade officers by climbing out a window. He then allegedly fired a gun at the officers.

At that time, one of them returned fire, hitting and killing York. The officers were not injured.

The TBI will hand its findings over to the District Attorney to decide if the shooting was justified.
