You need a pair of protective glasses to look up at the eclipse and with all the hype, paper glasses are being bought by the millions. But who makes them all?

If you've ever put on a pair of paper glasses, chances are they were made by American Paper Optics headquartered in Bartlett, Tennessee.

"We're the largest 3D optics company in the world," said Jason Lewin, CMO of American Paper Optics.

According to NASA, only five manufacturers have certified that their eclipse glasses meet the necessary standards. American Paper Optics is one of the chosen few.

"They've got the certifications. They've been doing this for years. They're the ones to buy from," said Lewin.

Lewin said they're keeping up with demand, only because they've been planning for this event for years.

"It's always been a lens that we've always had so we've known about it. So maybe 2-years-ago we realized this was going to be the biggest thing that we could ever do," he said. "I would say right now from a production standpoint, I would say around 60 to 65 million glasses."

That number will undoubtedly go up as we get closer to August 21.
