School officials have confirmed a school bus has been involved in a crash in Rutherford County.

According to reports, 70 students were on board Bus No. 50, which services Wilson Elementary School and was being driven by Melissa Morgan.

The wreck happened on Central Valley Road near Highway 231 just before 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The driver told school officials an SUV was driving toward her in her lane of travel. She swerved to miss the SUV, which caused the two vehicles to sideswipe each other.

The driver reported her back was hurting. Authorities said initially no students reported injuries, but later, two students said their heads were hurting.

The driver and both students were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Those with the school district said all parents have been contacted.

No information had been released on the driver of the SUV.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol were working at the scene. No further information was available.
