Backpacks filled with school supplies during the Metro Nashville United Way's Stuff the Bus campaign were give to students at Buena Vista Elementary School.

The backpacks were stuffed about a week before school started.

Those supplies, some of them collected NewsChannel 5, included pencils, crayons and notebooks for 9500 students, many of whom would not otherwise be able to start school with supplies.

Buena Vista Principal Michelle McVicker and Kindergarten teacher Jamie Hubbell welcomed the students and parents back to class with the backpacks.

Representatives from the United Way, Bridgestone Americas and the Tennessee Titans, sponsored the event, which gave the students the chance to start the new semester on equal ground.
