State education officials have been asking educators and parents not to be discouraged if students' test scores are lower this year.
That's because officials have increased the threshold for test scores as part of the state's move to create tougher grading standards.
According to reports, test program TNReady will release scores for high school students within the next few weeks. This year, the scores have been set up to align closer to the standards seen on the ACT test.
Education Commissioner Candice McQueen said the scores shouldn't be compared to the previous year's tests because the new tests measure different levels for different subjects.
McQueen said the scores will give officials a better understanding of where students stand.
